Does your Business or Establishment Need Valet Parking?

If you are the owner, manager, or director of a restaurant, country club, hospital, or other hospitality venue, or a residential owner planning a large special event, you might be considering the use of a valet parking service but are unsure if it would be beneficial. Here are a few things to take into consideration before you decide whether or not to use a valet parking company.

  • Location ~ Consider your location. Are you in a high traffic, busy area? Is the parking limited, inconvenient, confusing, or not close enough? If so, your customers (or guests) will appreciate the convenience of pulling right up to your entrance and leaving the parking to a valet attendant. Not having to circle around to find a parking spot, walk through a crowded parking lot, or walk a block or so will make a big difference for your guests.
  • Weather ~ If you are expecting inclement weather for a special event, (a wedding for example), the hiring of a valet parking company will prove beneficial for you, your guests, and for the sucess of the event. This will also give you one less thing to worry about and your guests will be grateful that you took this extra measure for them. You might even have been expecting great weather, but at the very last minute the weather calls for rain. Even in a pinch, a valet company may still be able to come to your aid.

  • What type of establishment are you? ~ Are you the owner of an upscale restaurant? Are you managing a private country club? Are you rated a five star restaurant? Most people who frequent an upscale venue for dinner or a special event have an expectation of being greeted by a valet attendant. A valet parking service also provides your venue with a higher level of service and gives it a professional, polished appearance.
  • Your customers or guests ~ Are the majority of your guests/patrons typically the kind who appreciate valet parking or would use it? Would some of them have limited mobility or physical handicaps that would best be served by providing valet service?
Take a few moments to consider the information above. It wil help you to decide how beneficial a valet parking company will be for you. Most valet companies provide a free on-site consultation that may also help you with your decision.

Inclement Weather? A Valet Can Be Your Savior!

You are all dresed up...new shoes, a great dress, expensive slacks. Your hair even looks perfect, you spent a lot of time on it after all. Let's face it, no one wants to show up at a special event or social gathering soaking wet.
This is where a valet parker can be a "knight in shining armor"... or at the very least someone who can let you out at the entrance of the venue you'll be attending and perhaps escort you right to the door holding a large umbrella over your head. Not only would that be great, it is something you can certainly expect from a reliable valet company.

A good valet company "trains" their employees (and screens for things like "safe driving" records too.) As owner of one of the longest running valet companies in Naples, Florida, (West Coast Valet) I know how important courtesy and respect are. Not only do I need my drivers to be safe, careful drivers...I need my drivers to respect another's property, be respectful of their time, and always show courtesy to the patrons.

I place a lot of value on good customer service, and that is what I expect from anyone I hire because they represent me and they represent my company. Part of good customer service is being friendly, polite, patient, extremely careful with each vehicle, and going above and beyond...especially in inclement weather.

South West Florida is known for having torrential down pours...our patrons have come to appreciate and rely on the service we provide in these situations. Door to door service, a large umbrella held over your head, and even a towel to wipe down your seat before you enter your car. For these reasons, a valet parker can be your savior in the rain and make a big difference in how your night turns out.

HOW MUCH TO TIP FOR VALET PARKING

As the owner of a valet parking company, I am sometimes asked
"How much should I tip a valet?"

The answer is not always cut and dry. Just like tipping your waiter or waitress, (or someone else who provided a service to you), you would probably adjust your tip according to the type of service you received. Most people usually tend to tip better when the service is better.

With that being said, our valet parkers typically receive a valet tip of between $3 and $4 dollars per car on "average." However there are often times when a valet parker may recieve $5 (or more) depending on the event, the weather, the time of year, and the type of service the valet attendant provided. Of course a tip is given on a voluntarily basis and is never mandatory; and a tip is always appreciated with gratitude (no matter what the amount).
